Eloi Schultz

Eloi Schultz

Éloi Schultz is an artist, architect and cabinetmaker born in
Strasbourg in 1990. He graduated as an architect from the École Nationale de la Villette, then as a cabinetmaker from the École d'Ameublement in Paris. He cultivated a sensitive and rigorous approach to woodworking, developing a
practice at the crossroads of art, design and crafts. A notebook, a pencil, a piece of wood are all he needs to create unique pieces that oscillate between furniture and sculptures. Eloi is inspired by traditional forms, vernacular know-how and old objects. He favors fruit species, such as walnut or cherry, which he works by hand, in a respectful dialogue between material, gesture and
intuition.

He earned his architecture degree from the École Nationale de la Villette, then his cabinetmaking degree from the École d'Ameublement in Paris. He cultivates a sensitive and rigorous approach to woodworking, developing a practice at the crossroads of art, design, and craftsmanship. A notebook, a pencil, and a piece of wood are all he needs to create unique pieces that oscillate between furniture and sculptures. Eloi draws inspiration from traditional forms, vernacular know-how, and antique objects. He favors fruit species, such as walnut or cherry, which he works by hand, in a respectful dialogue between material, gesture, and intuition. His relationship with wood is as tactile as it is meditative: the appearance, the scent, and the grain guide his work. This living material becomes the anchor point for a research that is both formal and sensory. Based in Vitry-sur-Seine since 2016 and in Marseille since 2020, Éloi Schultz divides his time between his two studios, where he pursues a work imbued with sensitivity, clarity and depth.
