Jorge Suarez-Kilzi
Jorge Suárez-Kilzi is an architect, designer and artist born in 1989 in Venezuela, to a Spanish father and a Syrian mother. After studying at the Polytechnic School of Catalonia and then at the EPFL in Lausanne, he perfected his architectural skills in Japan in the prestigious offices of Sejima+Nishizawa Associated Architects (SANAA) and Junya Ishigami. In 2018, driven by a deep passion for design and a desire to create beyond conventional boundaries, Jorge decided to create his own pieces. He pays homage to his history and his roots, notably by signing his works with his mother's surname, Kilzi. In Levantine Arabic, it refers to "the one who shapes plaster and chalk", a name that carries weight on the paths of creation. His journey, shaped by his nomadic childhood, led him to perceive objects as traveling companions and to attach great importance to them. Jorge Kilzi’s work combines his architectural inspirations with the tactile beauty of vernacular art. Each of his pieces embodies the essence of simplicity and emotion. He creates elegant and playful lighting fixtures, a harmonious blend of movement and refinement. Through his “Mush” fiberglass creations, Jorge delivers his symbolic and organic view of nature.
