Willem van Hooff is a Dutch artist and designer born in 1992 who lives and works in Eindhoven. After studying sustainable design at the Design Academy Eindhoven, he worked in several European studios, notably in Amsterdam and Berlin. This background is particularly evident in Willem's current work, which combines traditional craftsmanship and recycled materials, giving life to collections of objects inspired by nature. Alongside his practice, Willem Van Hooff gives lectures, sharing his vision of a future in which art and design merge to create objects that are both beautiful and environmentally responsible. His main sources of inspiration come from observing historical objects and buildings. Through his wooden furniture, he reminds us how fundamental traditional techniques, products, and materials are. Willem breathes life into his objects. According to him, a work of art must have "a mind, a body, and a soul," with the mind symbolizing the object's functionality, the body its visual characteristics, and the soul its intrinsic character.
