    Thomas Junghans

Thomas Junghans is a German artist born in 1956, now living in the Netherlands. In the 1970s, he studied painting and drawing before gradually turning to sculpture, exploring materials such as bronze, wood, and occasionally stone. His work is distinguished by an aesthetic that is both raw and expressive, where primitive forms meet almost cubic geometric volumes. Monumental and deeply embodied, his sculptures exude a striking presence, oscillating between strength and vulnerability. Guided by intuition, Thomas Junghans maintains a direct and physical dialogue with his materials. He describes his creative process as a "controlled intoxication." Each sculpture thus arises from a delicate balance between mastery and surrender. Drawing more from imagination than from observation of reality, the artist develops a universe populated by enigmatic figures with almost mythological resonances. Through his sculptures, he pursues a sensitive exploration of form, matter, and the inner energy that animates them.
