Jamie Gaunt is a British wood designer and sculptor. In his studio on a farm in the Kent countryside, south of London, he works with local oak, transforming it into organic and unique creations. Jamie Gaunt combines contemporary and traditional carving tools and techniques to create unique pieces of wood for homes, luxury hotels and businesses around the world.
Jamie has developed, over the course of his creations, a technique he calls "free carving", or free sculpture, letting each piece find its balance and where the artist's hand guides the shape without ever constraining it. He sculpts the wood fiber with patience and precision, paying homage to the tree that serves him. His work speaks of harmony, ancestral gesture, sharing. His creations are to be seen every day to embellish our art of living.
